PROPERTY TAX EQUITY
Joseph Rossi and John McCrossan support fundamental fairness
in taxation. They want land and home values assessed consistently
and fairly throughout Bernardsville. They also seek to stop
the current abuse of farmland assessments that unfairly shifts
the tax burden onto other residents. There are legitimate farmland
assessments, but many tax dollars are being lost due to misuse
and abuse of the system. Rossi and McCrossan believe many homeowners
would see a reduction in their property taxes.

MAINTENANCE OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Bernardsville needs to adopt a proactive plan for public works.
Joseph Rossi and John McCrossan will work to implement a systematic
approach to maintenance and construction of Borough roads,
sidewalks, parks, ball fields and all municipal properties.
A sound systematic approach, coupled with close scrutiny of
all projects, would be cost effective and efficient, resulting
in better facilities for less money. The key is Better Use
Of Tax Dollars, NOT MORE tax dollars.
SENIOR SERVICES
Seniors are an integral part of our community. They deserve
our full support and respect. Joseph Rossi and John McCrossan
are dedicated to improving services for our seniors. As council
members, they will advocate improvements to meeting facilities
and programs designed to deliver quality of life. They will
also explore options to hold the line on tax increases for
seniors without negatively impacting other residents.
OPEN GOVERNMENT
Rossi and McCrossan have a mission to build a council that
works together in an open, honest and respectful manner while
representing all Bernardsville residents. They want everyone
to have an opportunity to be heard on the issues affecting
the Borough. The discord that has been created by the majority
on the Borough Council has served only to block positive change
and to influence decisions that benefit a select few. Rossi
and McCrossan are consensus builders and will work to improve
the openness and effectiveness of the Bernardsville Borough
Council. Both candidates have a direct and honest approach
to issues that will benefit residents. Rossi and McCrossan
want to restore civility to the Borough Council but are willing
to fight, when need be, for their constituents.
RECREATION
Both Joseph Rossi and John McCrossan have made recreation
a priority in their lives. McCrossan has coached Little League
Baseball in Bernardsville for 7 years and is a Board Member
of the Somerset Hills Little League. He has also coached Bernardsville
Recreation Basketball for 4 years. While Rossi was Chairman
of the Bernardsville Pool Board from 1972 through 1988, he
expanded and improved the facility, adding an intermediate
pool and vastly expanding the grounds. He did this by investing
member fees and utilizing volunteers; no taxpayer money was
used. While on the Council, Rossi has been a driving force
behind maintaining and improving our recreation facilities.
Better use of funds and better implementation of plans has
resulted in better facilities. There is much more to be done
however. Both Rossi and McCrossan are dedicated to improving
our recreation facilities in creative ways that do not add
to the taxpayers’ burden.
