EDITOR:
Curiosity and a concern for Bernardsville
led me to attend the League of Women Voters debate Tuesday,
Oct. 11, at the Bernardsville Library.
I’m glad I did. My vote was decided. I used to read
about Joe Rossi’s “tribulations” and for
the life of me, I could not understand what was so wrong
with a representative who finally used initiative - and his
own money - to get some projects done in our town.
I found nothing wrong. I believe it is time for not only
change in Bernardsville, but also action. No more empty promises.
I found both Rossi and John McCrossan to be a much-needed
breath of fresh air. They stressed the need for a resource
officer in our high school. When Denis Dooley rebutted that
an FBI study indicted a community needs one police officer
per 1,000 population, I shuddered. That equates to only seven
police officers for our town.
I liked that Rossi and McCrossan focused on their own area
of expertise. They were not “rubber stamping” one
another. I believe they can work in tandem and that I can
put my faith in two self-made men. They offered no platitudes,
just visions and plans for the betterment of Bernardsville.
I urge all concerned citizens to re-elect Joe Rossi and
elect John McCrossan on Nov. 8.
